Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon pulled no punches with a comment about the Bills linebackers, as he compared them to the Ravens.
The Bills and Bengals face off in what’s expected to be a tightly-contested postseason preview on Monday Night Football. Buffalo has clinched the AFC East, while the Bengals have won seven games in a row and could clinch the AFC North this week.
Both teams have plenty left to play for — the Bills are holding off the Kansas City Chiefs for homefield advantage throughout the AFC postseason. Cincinnati ought to be locked into the No. 3 seed, but still has some work to do to clinch the division.
Joe Mixon throws some shade at the Bills
Bengals running back Joe Mixon gave Buffalo some bulletin-board material on Saturday, which won’t help matters. Mixon’s comment wasn’t meant as a major slight, though it’s tough not to take it that way.
“They’re a solid linebacker group, but they’re not the Ravens. I mean, they’re good. They get paid, too. I’m not saying they’re not good. But they’re not the Ravens,” Mixon said.
Mixon was clearly impressed with Baltimore’s linebacker group.
Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds were both named Pro Bowl alternates this year, and are arguably having the best seasons of their careers. Mixon wasn’t done throwing shade, however, as he suggested the AFC runs through Cincinnati…despite Buffalo holding the No. 1 seed.
“What people need to know and understand is we the big dog of the AFC,” Mixon said. “That’s just what it is. For anything to happen, it has to go through us.”
Cincinnati did win the AFC last year, defeating the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. In the Super Bowl, they lost to the Los Angeles Rams. Only time will tell if Mixon’s comment rings true.
