We have a short slate of NHL games tonight, with only three matchups to bet on.
With that in mind, I have two bets I have locked in for the action, including a big underdog play between the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings.
Let’s dive into them.
NHL best bets record season-to-date
- 196-178-4 (+3.88 units)
NHL best bets today
- Wild/Jets UNDER 5.5 (+100)
- Blackhawks +200 vs. Red Wings
Wild/Jets UNDER 5.5 (+100)
I will be betting on the UNDER in games involving the Minnesota Wild until further notice. Over their last 10 games, the average combined score in their games is 2.90. That’s right. They’re scoring just 1.84 goals per 60 minutes and allowing 1.06 goals per 60 minutes. An UNDER bettors dream.
Just last night, they went to a scoreless shootout with the Calgary Flames.
The Jets have also struggled offensively lately, ranking 25th in shooting percentage over their last 10 games.
At plus-money, I’m willing to take the UNDER at 5.5.
Blackhawks +200 vs. Red Wings
There’s no doubt that the Blackhawks are one of the worst teams in the NHL, but at +200, I can’t resist backing them against a struggling Red Wings team. Detroit has lost six-straight games, and its analytics have been bad over that stretch as well.
In 5-on-5 venue and score adjusted numbers, the Red Wings are 28th in CORSI%, which measures all types of shot attempts. The Blackhawks rank one spot above them at 27th.
Detroit is the better team, but at +200, I’m going to take a shot on Chicago to pull off the upset.
