Seattle Kraken have been a best NHL over bet so far this season.

Seattle Kraken have been a best NHL over bet so far this season.

If you haven’t started betting on the NHL this season, now is the time to jump in.

The 2022-23 campaign is in full swing, and there are plenty of opportunities for us to make some coin from it each day, and today’s Sunday slate is no different.

Let’s dive into my three favorite bets for today’s NHL action.

NHL Best Bets Record-to-Date

  • NHL Best Bets Record 79-73-1 (+1.52 units)

NHL Best Bets Today (Sunday, December 11)

  • Avalanche -115 vs. Blues
  • Kraken/Panthers OVER 6.5 (-115)
  • Bruins/Golden Knights UNDER 6 (-110)

Avalanche -115 vs. Blues

The St. Louis Blues have been far from impressive this season, and they’ve stumbled in recent weeks, going 3-7 in their last 10 games. Over that stretch, they rank 23rd in CORSI% and 27th in expected goals against.

An even bigger issue they’re suffering from is a complete lack of goaltending. They have a team save percentage of 84.64% over their last 10 games, the worst mark in the NHL. Jordan Binnington has had a bad season, and I don’t know if things will turn around for her.

I’ll gladly back the defending champs at a pick’em in that spot.

Kraken/Panthers OVER 6.5 (-115)

The Seattle Kraken have been one of the best shooting teams in the NHL this season. Over their last 10 games, they’re second in the league in shooting percentage, finding the back of the net on 13.4% of their shots on goal. In addition to that, they rank second last in save percentage, with their goalies stopping only 86.23% of the shots they face.

You know what that’s a recipe for? Lots of goals!

That’s especially true tonight when they take on a Panthers team that has an averaged combined goals per game of 6.88 per game. I’ll back the OVER in this one.

Bruins/Golden Knights UNDER 6 (-110)

The Boston Bruins have taken over as the best defensive team in the NHL by a wide margin. Over their last 10 games, they have an expected goals against of 2.19 per game. That’s 0.35 fewer than the next best team.

Now, they face a Golden Knights team that has been much better defensively than offensively this season, which is a change we’ve seen from them in recent seasons. In fact, they’re 28th in the NHL in expected goals for over their last 10 games, so I expect tonight’s interconference matchup to be a defensive slug fest.
